win-win (adjective/noun)

Meaning: means a situation where everyone involved gets a benefit in some way.

Internships are a great example of win-win scenarios. When a person joins a company as an intern, the company benefits from the intern’s skills without any cost (Salary), while the intern gains real-world experience in their chosen profession.

Imagine you are the manager of a customer service team that words 8am to 5pm. You introduced a new policy that your team can choose their own timings, they can come to office whenever they want. As a result of this policy, your team chose the following timings.

  • some team members chose 8 am to 5 pm,
  • some chose 3 pm to 12 am,
  • some chose 5 pm to 2 am
  • some chose 2 am to 11 am

In this situation, the team members are happy about the flexible work timings, and you are happy that your team will now be available 24 hours a day to take the customers’ calls.
This is a win-win situation because both parties got a benefit.
